Outside work on Project 2

With the second project printed, I decided to work back into it. I had two copies printed in different colors. I used coffee, tea, and charcoal in the one and watercolors in the other.

After this last project I was inspired to create another zine...

Minimalist Thought

it all starts with a thought. you look around, realize that something needs to change in your life. you find things that you've had since you were 5 and are never going to touch again. those old pair of shoes or those 7 extra bags, are you really going to use all of them? something compels you for change. usually it starts within. you change your eating habits, you take a daily walk or go to a yoga class. then you find yourself attracted to simple lines and cleanliness. your mind is so going a million miles an hour... "how can one live on less!!"... "How can I possibly do this?!".... you teeter back and forth from organization to complete chaos. All of a sudden you put your foot down. you are living on less and your life falls into place. and it starts all with a minimalist thought.

Minimal Approach

There are so many stimulants in life that leak into the way we live. We start out with it all together, then, sure enough the stuff accumulates and becomes things we think are important to us or a part of who we are. Our thoughts turn into stress and our minds cloud over, soon we are wondering what we can do to simplify the chaos....
Well, all that is needed is to sort through your clutter and start to detach from "things". When you come home with company you should not have to worry about what is lying around. Keep it simple and your life will start to ease.

There is a beauty to minimalism and in my zine I want to show this beauty. I also want to show the disarray that can occur if someone allows their life to be run by the dreaded "THINGS"...

Project 3

For this project I would like to record someone running up steps and their destination is a door. So the ending will be someone either running or walking through a door. And will it be a person or some other sort of character?

Final thoughts

I wanted to keep the patterns/texture in the background with out making the piece more complicated like I did with the orange background one. So when I did more work and looked back at the first image I liked the first one a lot more, so I stuck with it. I was trying to go with the more subtle pastel-like colors, but the print out was a bit too light and was not attractive. I played with the color in photoshop and came up with a more rustic, burnt look that I like.

I plan on continuing to work on the piece using coffee or tea to stain the edges to give it more character. When I completely finish it with those regards I will post another photo.

Crazie Critters

I added color to the background. I may still work on this over the weekend. Add subtle depth to the backround, hmmmm.... When it is ready to print it will be 12"x 20"

Progression

I thought I had everything where I wanted/liked it, but as I look at the image it just seem to be lagging. So I started playing with the Wacom tablet and then moved images around and came out with a subtle, but loud piece.

Here are both images. I may still work on the final or play with the printing.

Bits & Pieces

I'm working on creating texture and pattern for this project. I don't know if I am going to keep with this design or change it completely.

Shapes for the 2nd Project

Here are my shapes for our 2nd project. I plan to focus on the simplicity of the shapes. I want to use shapes within shapes to create a pattern or abstract piece.

Your very own Beta-Nicotine template!

Beta-Nicotine

Trying to kick the bad habit? Tired of hearing people tell you smoking is bad for you? Well, medical science has come up with a way for smokers to continue their age old habits and keep in good health! Beta-Nicotine's are cigarette sticks that contain free radical fighting power. Doctors have figured out a way to cross pollinate carrots with nicotine to provide antioxidants with each puff. Now, all those nasty carcinogens going into your body will be broken down and eliminated! So, keep on puffing!

*** For those of you who don't smoke, Beta-Nicotine's make a nice house plant!

The box

The box is accomplished... I am working on the cigs & carrots for the inside. Carrots will have the stems which will flow out of the box. So, if the box lid where to shut you would see the squished stems.

Hmmmm.....The colors are completely different in this view.

Progress

I'm still working with the idea of cigarettes. My ideas have been changing about what to do with the inside a.k.a the cigarettes themselves. First they were going to house a fortune, then with idea two, they were going to be sushi rolls, and now I am opting toward veggies and cigarettes mixed together....hmmmm.

So far I have the box outlined and am working on the imagery for it. And for some reason the Illustrator outline is not showing up.

Daily DeLites for Project 1

After thinking about creating a small space with paper, I decided to use just a part of that space. I am going to recreate a box of cigarettes, but instead of filling the inside with a cancerous stick or leaving it empty, there will be replicas of the 20 sticks in which each will house a fortune! Yes, a fabulous little statement for one to enjoy! So, roll the pack up in your sleeve and look cool when unraveling your Daily DeLite.
